Discover the beauty of the Colorado backcountry. Join Elkhorn Outfitters, Inc. for a day on our 50,000 acre privately owned ranch located 15 miles north of the Hayden Airport.

Your adventure will start when we pick you up at your local accommodations. Your fully guided ride will consist of 50 miles of privately groomed trails, as well as, miles and miles of high country mountain meadows. You will be provided with a helmet.  Lunch and hot drinks are also included and will be served in our warming hut.  You can also take a break from snowmobiling to enjoy our great tubing hill free of charge.

A credit card will be asked for deposit on equipment and to hold reservations. All participants must sign a liability waiver. Winter activity attire is required, please dress appropriately.  You must be at least 16 years of age and hold a valid drivers license to drive a snowmobile. 

Location

Back country winter adventures at Elkhorn Outfitters Inc. is located on a private ranch, approximately 15 miles north of Craig, CO. Craig is about 35-45 minutes west of Steamboat Springs.

Hours

Full tours are available at 8 am and half day tours begin at 8am and 11am.  Back country winter adventures at Elkhorn Outfitters, Inc. have a full day option. Maximum 8 snowmobiles per tour. Must be 16 years old with a valid drivers liscense to drive. Two person machines available for half day tours. Passengers not recommended for full day tour.  

This back country adventure can be enjoyed by all levels of riders, from beginner on up. Let us provide you with a truly memorable winter adventure.   The dinner tour includes hot drinks, soup and sandwiches.

Saddleback Ranch

About

Saddleback Ranch guided snowmobile tour goes over 8,000 acres of groomed trails and open meadows, the only snowmobile tour that operates on private land. Enjoy the opportunity to see gorgeous views of the Flattops, Mt. Werner, Sleeping Giant and the Zirkles. The 2-hour tour has daily pickup times at 8:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m.

Half Day Adventure Package

The Half-day package has 3 hour snowmobile tour, 1 hour tubing, lunch and pick-up at 8:30 a.m. We use 2 passenger 2006-2008 Polaris 550 Sport Tour snowmobiles. After the ride, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate at the headquarters.  Available Tuesdays and Thursdays only.

Dinner Tour

Enjoy a beautiful mountain sunset and an adventurous 1.5 hours evening snowmobile tour of moonlit Saddleback Ranch. After arriving at our brand new Long Horn Lodge, hit the slopes at YEE-HAW HILL for an hour of snow tubing, exclusively open for dinner snowmobile tour. After snow tubing indulge yourself with a delicious, (fourth generation family recipe), "all you can eat" spaghetti dinner served with fresh garlic bread, romaine salad dressed with a garlic vinaigrette, and homemade desert. The dinner tour is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Pick up at 4pm.

Location

Saddleback Ranch provides front door transportation to and from the ranch in brand new luxury vans. Saddleback Ranch is located just outside of Milner, a 15 mile drive from Steamboat Springs. If you wish to drive to the ranch, take HWY 40 West out of Steamboat 10 miles. At mile marker 122 take a left onto county road 178, which will turn into County Road 179. Follow County road 179, 3miles across the rail road tracks, over the river and pass a housing development, the ranch is on the left side of the road.

Hours

The 2 hour tour pick-up times are at 8:30am and 1:00pm. The Half-day package pick-up time is at 8:30am.

Steamboat Snowmobile Tours

The Dinner Tour takes you over moonlit snowfields through a Rocky Mountain wonderland on world-class snowmobiles. Explore breathtaking expanses of Champagne Powder® and rugged peaks on a snowmobile ride along the Continental Divide, then dine just below a 10,000 foot peak in our secluded mountain cabin. Your choice of Grilled Ribeye Steak, Rocky Mountain Trout or Fire Roasted Chicken with a Vegetarian menu also available.   

Reservations including Guests riding with the guide (Guide+Adult, Guide+Child) for 12/17-1/2, 2/12-2/15, 3/13-3/28 must be booked directly with Steamboat Snowmobile Tours.

Mountain Pick-up Locations: Gondola Square Transit Center, Timber Run, Torian Plum, Sheraton, Phoenix, The Lodge, Steamboat Grand, and the Shadow Run Bus Stop.

Downtown Pick-up Locations: 7th & Lincoln, Celebrity Resorts (Pine Grove), Celebrity Resorts (Hilltop) Rabbit Ears Motel, and the Hampton Inn.

Driving Directions

If you decide to drive instead of taking advantage of the pick-up service, then take Hwy 40 east, up Rabbit Ears Pass. Steamboat Snowmobile Tours is .5 miles past mile marker 151. Slow down when you see the mile marker, as there is no sign. Turn right on the plowed road.

Steamboat Snowmobile Tours offers several times for you to choose from:

High Mountain Snowmobile Tours

Location

Call for directions and pickup locations nearest your lodging. Please call 24 hours in advance to re-confirm your meeting time.  Free transportation is provided. Guest are asked to please be outside, ready and waiting for the white vans.

If you decide to drive instead of taking advantage of the pick-up service, then Take Hwy 40 west to RCR 129, and go north on RCR 129 sixteen miles to Clark. Turn right on RCR 64 (Seedhouse Road) and go five miles to the end of the plowed road at the Meeting cabin.

Tour Schedule

High Mountain Snowmobile Tours begin on December 22nd, 2010, Tours are available Monday - Saturday.   Drivers with passengers must be 18 years of age.
